As a rental company specialising in CC containers and Danish trolleys, accurate container registration is of utmost importance to Leo Schalkoort B.V. The company wants to provide the best possible service to its customers and ensure that rental costs are charged correctly. The company has been using the Rental Module in PackControl’s packaging software since early 2026. Owner Claudia Bijl-Schalkoort shares her thoughts on it.
Leo Schalkoort B.V. rents out CC containers to growers, exporters, transporters and hauliers in the floriculture sector, as well as DC containers to related sectors. As outlined on their website, the company operates in the true no-nonsense style the Dutch “Westland” region is known for: take the hassle off the customer's hands by just getting on with it. Our conversation with Claudia Bijl-Schalkoort fits that description perfectly: short but to the point.
“Our service is all about taking the pressure off the customer,” says Claudia. “The customer needs containers, and they need to be in the right place at the right time. That means collecting the containers, removing any damaged items, and ensuring the correct quantities are returned to the user.”
“It is of the utmost importance to us that the rental module works perfectly, because the trolleys we rent out need to generate a return, of course. Our old system only had standard processes that were the same across the entire industry. That didn't work for us because the rental aspect in particular couldn't be managed properly within it. We wanted to automate everything, but that wasn’t possible with our old system, so we started looking for a system that better suited our needs.”
Entering data and calculating costs straight away in PackControl: less error-prone and no more duplication of work.
“A grower told us about PackControl and that they were developing something for the rental market. Then it all happened quite quickly. The process went more smoothly than we expected. It’s great that the package has been tailored to our needs as customers. It suits us perfectly. We switched completely to PackControl at the start of this year and we’re very happy with it.”
Claudia can not yet say exactly how much time Leo Schalkoort B.V. saves by using PackControl, but it's clear that things are going faster. “Container registration is much less work,” she explains. “Previously, we did the item registration in our old system and the cost calculation in Excel. Now, we enter the data and calculate the costs in PackControl straight away, so it’s much less vulnerable to errors and there’s no duplication of work.”
When asked whether there are many exceptions to the rules, Claudia is brief: “All the time.” She adds: “There are lots of special arrangements and exceptions, so it’s great that we can now handle all of that in a single system with PackControl. Some customers want immediate repairs in the event of damage so that the packaging is available again straight away, while others have a different approach. We want to take the hassle off the customer’s shoulders and simply do our job well.”
“Because everything is processed in a single system, it now runs smoothly and quickly. Transactions are entered immediately upon dispatch and receipt in the warehouse and then checked in the office. Every receipt is always handled by two people, and then the invoice is generated. That works well.”
Claudia is very satisfied with the collaboration with PackControl, which fits in well with the company's down-to-earth approach. “I’m really pleased that the lines of communication are always short, which means you can make progress very quickly. You don’t have to go through a queue or a customer service and ticketing system to reach the right person. As a result, we receive excellent support and can move forward quickly.”
